Ropes Manufacturing Co Ltd, Tai-
Chang Wang's high ideal for management is to create a beautiful
society . With
earnest aspirations for peace , and the well-being of mankind ,
he works hard ,
sticks to his principles , and has a committed sense of responsibility
. In the "Supervisory Training Book" of China Management
Consultants Inc he set out
these principles , and in the company magazine he wrote "Our
country is a large
social system and our company is a sub-social system. We have to
work hard to
develop this sub - social system for our company to be a prosperous
one , and to
perform its best in order to earn enough money: 1) to pay more dividends
to our
share holders , thus raising more investment capital ; 2) to pay
better wages and
salaries to our employees , to improve their living standard so
that they wish to
stay with our company and work hard ; 3 ) to provide better goods
at the lowest
prices to the public. To achieve this goal and create a beautiful
society, we have
to : 1) utilize, do the best we can , never waste materials; 2)
employ our intelli-
gence and experience to improve and raise our productivity ; 3)
by team work ,
strive for unity and cooperation, compliment and support each other,
and by good
management enable our efforts to achieve ever greater efficiency
and results '.
Mr. Wang was born in Changli, Hopei, China , on 2 October 1921 .
He studied
economics at Yen Ching University and graduated from the National
Peking
University , later doing advanced study at Syracuse University's
International
Management Development Departmen t. A teacher, 1947-50, he was Dean
of
Taipei Municipal Commercial School, 1951-57; in 1953 he was awarded
a prize
for research work by Taipei Education Bureau, and in 1956 a prize
as one of the
best teachers of the year . Since 1957 he has worked in both education
and
commerce , holding several important positions . He has been a professor
at the
Institute of Management Science , National Chiao Tung University,
since 1973,
and President of China First Steel Ropes since 1976 . Mr Wang is
a Board
Director of the Steel Wre & Steel Rope Association of Taiwan,
a member of the
Chinese Association of Advanced Management and the American Management
Association, and Life Member of Sino-American Technical Cooperative
Associa-
tion. His father, Fu-Hsiang (Tse-Pu) Wang, was a famous Chinese
traditional
medical doctor, who passed away in 1946; his mother, Wang-Keng Shih,
is now
a dignified old lady of ninety-six . In 1955 Mr Wang married Nuan
- Yu (Nora)
Chen, well-known singer and a professor at the National Taiwan Academy
of Art;
he has a stepson, ChangYang Chen. He is widely travelled, having
visited many
countries in Europe, Asia and America; as recreation he enjoys listening
to
classical music and watching performances of Chinese opera. |
